Congregation Leadership

Serving the congregation with humility, wisdom, and love.

Congregation elders in a pastoral discussion

Biblical Leadership Structure

The Corner Brook Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses is led by a body of elders — spiritually qualified men appointed according to the criteria outlined in the Bible (1 Timothy 3:1-7; Titus 1:5-9). These men serve voluntarily and without financial compensation, motivated entirely by their love for God and genuine care for the congregation.

Elders shepherd the congregation through personal pastoral visits, counselling based on the Bible, oversight of meetings, and caring assistance during times of need. They are supported by ministerial servants — qualified men who handle practical congregation responsibilities, freeing elders to focus on pastoral care.

  • Elders appointed based on spiritual qualifications, not seniority
  • All leadership roles are voluntary — no paid clergy
  • Oversight connected to the worldwide Governing Body through circuit overseers
  • Regular congregation meetings ensure broad participation in decisions
Be shepherds of the flock of God under your care, serving as overseers — not because you must, but because you are willing, as God wants you to be.

— 1 Peter 5:2 (New World Translation)

Roles & Responsibilities

Every member of our congregation plays a meaningful role. Here are the key appointed positions and what they involve.

Congregation Elders

Elders are the primary pastoral shepherds of the congregation. They conduct meetings, provide Bible-based counselling, visit members experiencing challenges, oversee congregation activities, and ensure that everything is done according to Biblical and organizational guidance. Our elders are accessible, approachable, and committed to serving each member of our congregation family.

Ministerial Servants

Ministerial servants assist elders by handling practical responsibilities such as maintaining the Kingdom Hall, overseeing literature distribution, managing audio and video equipment, and supporting congregation operations. This role provides valuable training for those who aspire to serve as elders in the future.

Pioneer Ministers

Pioneer ministers are congregation members who dedicate significantly more time to the public ministry — sharing the Bible's message with their community. Regular pioneers devote approximately 70 hours per month to this work. They represent an important link between our congregation and the broader Corner Brook community.
