Community Care & Outreach

How we serve and support our neighbours in Corner Brook and western Newfoundland.

Community members helping neighbours in Corner Brook

More Than a Congregation —
A Community Family

The Bible's command to "love your neighbour as yourself" (Matthew 22:39) is not an abstract ideal for us — it is a daily practice. Our congregation members are active, caring participants in the life of Corner Brook, known for their willingness to help, their reliability, and their genuine concern for those around them.

From assisting elderly residents with practical tasks, to supporting families experiencing hardship, to simply being a friendly, trustworthy presence in the neighbourhood — our community work flows naturally from who we are and what we believe.

Community Activities

Practical, loving service carried out quietly and consistently — not for recognition, but because it reflects our values.

Caring for the Elderly

Our members regularly visit and assist elderly neighbours and congregation members — helping with household tasks, providing company and conversation, and ensuring seniors in our community feel valued and supported.

Helping Families in Need

During times of crisis, illness, or hardship, our congregation rallies to support affected families with practical assistance — meals, childcare, transportation, and emotional encouragement guided by Biblical compassion.

Neighbourhood Stewardship

We take pride in our neighbourhood. Our members maintain clean, well-kept properties and participate in community beautification — reflecting the Biblical principle of caring for the environment and community entrusted to us.

Disaster Relief & Emergency Care

Jehovah's Witnesses are recognized globally for their rapid, highly organized disaster relief work. When communities face emergencies — floods, fires, or other crises — our volunteers mobilize quickly to provide hands-on assistance to anyone in need, regardless of religious affiliation.

Our congregation maintains connections with the broader Jehovah's Witness disaster relief network, enabling us to coordinate with provincial and national resources when our community needs extra support.

  • Trained volunteer emergency response teams
  • Practical rebuilding and restoration assistance
  • Emotional and pastoral support for affected families
  • Coordination with regional and national relief efforts
Let us work what is good toward all, but especially toward those related to us in the faith.

— Galatians 6:10 (New World Translation)
